HeroicStories is distributed to both online subscribers and to newspapers for free. We know these stories are valuable and need to be read, and believe in making them freely available.

Originally, either ads or our founder Randy Cassingham paid for all HeroicStories issues. In September 2000 a few readers pooled funds and bought two ads. Soon, the "Reader Sponsorship Fund" was born; since then, our readers are the primary support for HeroicStories.

When an anonymous reader discovered we were low on funds in July 2001, they created a remarkable opportunity for us, contributing $1,000 as a "Challenge Grant". Readers responded by contributing over $4,000, and anonymous matched it all. The HS staff was beyond amazed, and beyond grateful. (Results of last year's challenge here.)

This year we again have another incredible opportunity. An international group of readers have banded together, offering to contribute $3,475 to HeroicStories if other readers will match that amount.

You can help us ~~reach~~ exceed our goal! Yes, our goal has been met, but don't hesitate to help us smash past our goal in true HeroicStories fashion.
Last year we received a number of contributions just after the Challenge drive closed -- each and every one helped us to get through the year.
